about

HISSOM aka Tulsa's very own Dustin Charles, brings forth an intensive omnichord based drone album that blurs the lines of the minimalist genre, dipping its toes in to spaces such as ambient and noise while retaining head stirring chords, tones, and frequencies. What starts as bright, warps and dips in to the darker and more dissonant, creating intoxicating sonic swirls that hum and buzz back and forth through the listener's cranium. Crisp bits of distortion crackle through, scratching the back of the skull while warm swaths of angelic notes simultaneously blanket the brain. Atmospheric scapes jump to sharp feedback-esque tones holding the listener in limbotic spaces that shift to and fro with the natural ease of a ship on the ocean. A soundtrack for neo-Tulsa cathedrals and the dilapidated Phantasmagoria fun house.
