about

Co-released with Fayetteville, AR's Tape Dad.

Tulsa's math punks are back and shreddier than ever! Plastic Psalms return with a bang through their new album, "Self-Stained Slate". Harder hitting than ever before, "Self-Stained Slate" takes a much more rapid fire, almost hxc sounding at times, approach at the songwriting than previous works of the trios. More blast beats, more chaotic chops, and harsher vocals, all while retaining the classic Plastic Psalms sound of tech-y soaring leads, memorable riffs, fat bass lines, and complex drumming. Songs are, on average, significantly shorter than previous Plastic Psalms releases, but still manage to integrate all of their sonic tropes, almost as if the band has been perfecting the condensing of their style. Side A of the cassette soars by uncompromisingly in a whirlwind of intense, quick moving musicianship before leading up to a slow build, climatic drone track on Side B that brings refreshing contrast to the rest of the album. Fans of punk, hardcore, and math rock (and especially fans of all 3!) will find a home in this album. Absolutely worth a listen! Don't sleep!
